I was in a friend’s room yesterday night. We were waiting for one other person to join us for dinner. I was doing a bit of Japanese in the meantime, when suddenly my friend beckoned me over to his PC.
He pointed out a video interview, and asked me if I had seen it before.
“What’s it about?” I asked.
“…Just watch it,” he replied.
So I did.
It was George Galloway being featured on a Sky News interview.
A quick summary of the interview: Galloway spoke in support of the Hezbollah movement, and against the Israeli attacks on Lebanon.
A Thing Or Two
I’ve been aware of the man’s existence for quite some time already, but I had only heard and read about him before; this was the first time I had seen him in action.
And I was hooked right from the very first sentence he uttered. (”…What a preposterous way to introduce an item, and what a preposterous first question.”)
I watched the video in full-focus mode right until the very end, and enjoyed every single second of it.
This is what was so enthralling about the interview: the way he slaughtered his female host. (Indeed, I am tempted to use some very profane words right now to describe the excitement I felt whilst watching the interview.)
I loved how Galloway sliced through the woman’s nonsensical rhetorics. His arguments made a hell of a lot more sense, and they were much sharper, more straightforward, in (comparatively) simple English, and definitely lovely to listen to, too. (His comparisons were on-the-mark as well.)
I must have watched and repeated the video at least 3 times in a row. Yes, it was just that good.
What I’ve Learned
I now believe that there is no better way to win an argument than by completely shattering the sensibilities of your opponent through the use of these two sentences: “What a silly question… what a silly person you are.” (It is also perhaps more ideal to couple those sentences with irrefutable facts and contemptuous laughter (of the mild sort).)
Or maybe, if I feel like destroying my opponent completely, I should say, “… It’s you who should be justifying the evident bias, which is written on every line of your face, and is in every nuance of your voice, and is loaded in every question that you ask.”
My quote of the week: “Oh please, have a slightly longer memory than 4 weeks.”

Welcome back!
Just watched the video and man you are right. It is that good.
Nothing like a raging Scotsman to cut through the bull-crap that you get from Skynews.
An uncle of mine calls it the NBS approach, which stands for No Bull Shit.
